On invitation from the Coconut Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CRI-CATAS), Assistant Director, Market and Statistics Officer and COGENT Coordinator of International Coconut Community attended the 2023 China (Hainan) International Coconut Industry Forum at Wenchang City in Hainan, China. The event was co-organized by the International Coconut Industry Forum in association with the Hainan Provincial People’s Government, People’s Government of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province, the People’s Government of Wenchang City.

The second day of the Session continued began with the Country Statement of Jamaica followed by Kiribati.
One of the important agenda of the day was considering the new membership application received from the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire for the full membership status in ICC. Dr. Jelfina C. Alouw presented the agenda and the Session agreed to approve the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire as the 21st member of ICC.
ICC Session & Ministerial Meeting is the highest decision-making body of the Community and is held annually to discuss, deliberate and take policy decisions on the activities to be undertaken by the Community for the sustained development of the global coconut sector. The countries are represented at the Session by the Honourable Ministers of Agriculture/Trade/Commerce, Plenipotentiary Delegates authorized by the National Governments and Senior Officials from the concerned Ministries.
